The Chamber by O’Hare is pleased to award (3) $1,500 scholarships for the 2017-2018 school year. All three recipients will graduate from East Leyden High School this spring.
Recipient, Artur Bak, a resident of River Grove, may attend DePaul University this fall majoring in computer science and cybersecurity.
The second recipient, Homero Vazquez, a resident of Schiller Park, is undecided at this point where he will be attending in the fall, but will be majoring in electrical engineering.
The third recipient, Joseph Adolfson, a resident of Franklin Park, is being awarded the Triton College specific technology scholarship and plans to major in mechanical engineering.
Artur, Homero, and Joseph were chosen based on outstanding academic, extracurricular, and leadership accomplishments. Advancing the educational opportunities of our local students to become professionals, leaders, and valued citizens of our communities supports the purpose of the Chamber. We wish them all great success in their academic pursuits.
The River Grove Police Department has entered into an agreement with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office to facilitate participation in the CCSO’s Prescription Drug Take Back Program. A collection box has been placed in the lobby of the Police Station allowing the CCSO to collect surrendered prescription drugs for recycling in accordance with the Program. Prescription drugs can be dropped off at the police station 24 hours a day 7 days a week at no charge.
The CCSO operates this Program consistent with all applicable rules and regulations of state and federal law governing prescription drug take back programs in order to promote a safe and healthy community.

The River Grove Police Department, being funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, will be aggressively enforcing DUI, Talk & Text and seat belt violations.

The Free Rain Barrel program from the MWRD ended December 31, 2016. Rain barrels are still available through the MWRD, but at a purchase price of approximately $50 per barrel. Multiple colors are available, and the barrels will still be delivered by the MWRD.
